Join Us for Pain &  Supported Self Management Week 2025 #PSSMW25

The International Association on the Study of Pain (IASP)

Successfully managing chronic pain requires education and self-mastery of key skills

“Self-management is the first rung of the ladder in pain care—followed by primary care, with specialty care and pain centre's most appropriately used for the most complex problems.”

On behalf of the www.paintoolkit.org & A Path Forward, we are reaching out to organisations to invite them to join us in an exciting initiative: Pain & Supported Self Management Week, scheduled for February 3rd to 8th, 2025. On the 8th of February, we are running the Pain Supported Self-Management Conference.

Pain Supported Self-Management has emerged as a vital component of healthcare for individuals living with persistent pain. It empowers patients by equipping them with simple yet effective self-management skills, enabling them to better manage their pain and thereby improve their quality of life. Our goal is to raise awareness, share knowledge, and foster a global dialogue around the importance of supported self-management in pain management care.

We believe that your organisation’s involvement will be invaluable in amplifying the message and reaching a wider audience. Together, we can highlight the significance of Pain Supported Self-Management and inspire individuals affected by persistent pain to learn and employ these important and essential skills.

Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Promote the Week: Share the event with your members and other pain societies, social media channels, newsletters, and websites. #PSSMW25
2. Host Events: Consider organising webinars, workshops, or informational sessions throughout the week to educate the pain management community about supported self-management strategies.
3. Share Resources: Collaborate to distribute educational materials, toolkits, or personal stories that illustrate the impact of supported self-management.
4. Engage Your Network: Encourage your partners and members to participate and share their experiences and insights related to pain supported self-management.
