Here’s how the five self-management skills can specifically help someone living with cancer:

Below are some general and simple suggestions to use.  Please let me know the ones you use

1. Setting Goals and Action Plans:

- Helps people create realistic and meaningful health goals, like managing side effects, maintaining energy levels, or staying active.

- Provides motivation and a focus, making the journey feel more manageable and purposeful.

2. Pacing Daily Activities:

- Teaches how we can avoid falling into the Boom and Bust Cycle by balancing rest and activity, which is crucial to avoid fatigue that can result from treatment.

3. Problem Solving:

- Most people get problems inn life, but problems to get magnified when living with cancer or long term health conditions. To approach challenges, such as managing treatment side effects or scheduling medical appointments, with practical strategies. Talk to your Supported Self Management Coach. 

- Fosters resilience and adaptability, allowing them to tackle unexpected issues that arise during our cancer journey.

4. Meaningful Movement:

- Encourages and engaging is in physical activities that are enjoyable and suitable, which can enhance mood and physical health, before, during and after treatment. Meaningful movement is highly recommended. 

- It also helps us in managing stress and anxiety, providing a sense of accomplishment and normalcy amidst cancer treatment.

5. Having a Setback Plan:

- Prepares us for potential setbacks, like increased fatigue or side effects, by having a clear plan for managing them.

- Reduces feelings of uncertainty and anxiety, providing comfort in knowing that they have steps to take if challenges arise.
