Handy tips to ignite a persons interest to start self managing their persistent pain.

Here is a check list you can use.

1. Build Trust: I want you to feel comfortable talking to me. We’re a team in this.

2. Understand Your Persistent Pain: Let’s figure out what’s causing your pain together. Knowing more can help you self manage and me supporting you.

3. Set Goals & Action Plans Together: We can make and start with small goals and how to action plan them. This will help us know what do you want to focus on? 

4. Share Success Stories: I’ll tell you about others who have self managing their pain. Their stories and experiences may inspire you!

5. Learn Self Management Skills: I can teach you techniques like relaxation exercises or fun activities to help you feel better.

6. Empower Your Choices: You get to choose what works for you. It’s important to feel in control!

7. It’s Okay to have Set Backs: Remember, everyone has good days and bad days—that’s totally normal.

8. Provide Easy to understand Resources: I can share tools and helpful information you can use for support. Learning how to self manage persistent pain, is like learning a new language, learning how to drive a car or musical instrument

9. Regular Check Ins: We’ll keep talking about how you’re doing, and I want to hear about your successes, big or small!

10. Focus on You: We’ll find what works best for you because it’s all about your needs and getting back in the driving seat and on track.
